History of the NC Summer Policy Institute

The NC Summer Policy Institute (NCSPI) was created in 2017 by Brian Kennedy and Chanae Wilson. NCSPI is a concept reworked from Oklahoma’s Summer Policy Institute model.

The initiative aims to foster North Carolina’s next generation of public policy leaders by bringing together young adults, who are rooted in the state, to participate in a multi-day exploration of top policy issues. We aim for NCSPI to be the cornerstone in preparing students to become North Carolina’s future leaders.

Since the program’s implementation, our event has served as a pipeline for students to gain access to graduate programs, fellowship opportunities, and greater connections with leaders across the state.
